Park + Ride

One of the biggest hurdles while planning The Makers Festival was the parking situation.  Beach View Farms is located in a residential neighborhood, and parking along Beach View Avenue is understandably prohibited.  

The Magaziner Family (owners of two local restaurants: Old Causeway  and  Mud City Crab House) have generously offered up their newly acquired "Mud Shuttle" to transport Makers Festival attendees from the Southern Regional Middle School parking lot directly to the Beach View Farms entrance, which is a 1.8 mile ride (or walk if you choose!).

How it works

Festival goers are encouraged to drive directly to Southern Regional Middle school and follow posted signs for parking.  There will be a "Bus Stop" area where attendees can wait for the Mud Shuttle. The shuttle will run every 10-15 minutes directly from SRMS to the Farm, which is a less than 5 minute ride.  As always, walking or biking is welcome and bike racks will be provided for those riding. 

Southern Regional Middle School has also pitched in to our event by offering up a parking solution. We are happy to give back to Southern by donating a portion of the proceeds from the Rustic Drift Biergarten to a college scholarship fund dedicated to a deserving art student.  Directions to SRMS are below.

 

Should you have any questions regarding parking before the event, feel free to email organizers at makersfest@gmail.com. There will be volunteers stationed along the route to guide you and answer any questions you may have regarding parking as well. 

The "it" event.

We have to be honest, it's a bit surreal for anyone to refer to The Makers Festival as the 'it' event. It's flattering, no doubt, but surreal. Check out a fabulous article by Victoria Ford of The Sandpaper covering all aspects of the festival.

If You Don't Know, Now You Know

Last week Makers Hosts School of Vintage & Volatile Media Management took a stroll through Beach View with Farmer Extraordinaire Chris Adams.  There have been so many changes to the space since our last visit (including clearing a field for weddings!), and we are extremely fortunate to have this beautiful landscape as our canvas.

Food Vendor - The Schwee Tea Co.

We are super excited to announce that the Schwee Tea Co. has officially joined the Maker’s Festival lineup as a food vendor!

Schwee Tea started as a twinkle in founder Robyn Pallotta’s eye many moons ago and became a successful reality with its grand opening at the Manahawkin Mart in 2013. If you’re from the area, chances are you’re familiar with the all-organic and made-to-order Schwee Tea menu which offers juice, smoothies, food and the famous Schwee (sweetened) and Un-Schwee (unsweetened) teas that are brewed and bottled right on site.

There are countless regulars that call the small and cozy Schwee Tea atmosphere home every day who religiously order their usual but will also argue that they love other items on the menu just the same. And if you happen to be extra friendly to the staff (in a non-creepy kind of way, except for Adele who likes it extra creepy) and maybe throw in an extra buck or two for the tip, they might make you privy to some variations on the menu not known to everyone. This secret menu isn’t necessary since everything is delicious as-is, but just think how fun and exciting it is to order a J9 Special or even a Princess Burger. Mmmmmmm…..my mouth’s watering just thinking about all the possibilities!

For the Maker’s Festival, Schwee Tea will be gracing the event with some fan favorites:  Schweet Potato Wraps, Quinoa Phoenix Salad (gluten free) and their famous Schwee Tea. All of which are a perfect complement to the festival location at Beach View Farms where a lot of their locally sourced ingredients are harvested!

Ryan Zimmerman at Lizzie Rose

The Makers Festival Musician Ryan Zimmerman successfully held an original music showcase at The Lizzie Rose Music Room on January 24th! If you missed it, don't despair - you can read all about it in The SandPaper and another show is in the works for the Boneyard Bar & Grill in Atlantic City.

Pinelands Brewing Co

As if the latest news about the Rustic Drift Biergarten wasn’t exciting enough, Pinelands Brewing Company has signed on as our first beer vendor!  A few of us have made frequenting the brewery a hobby of sorts, and we can’t wait to have their deliciously unique brews at The Makers Festival!  If you haven't been there already, you really should add it to the top of the weekend event list.  Bring some snacks, enjoy a few pours, and await the celebration at Beach View Farms! 

Rustic Drift Biergarten

We officially announced the Rustic Drift Biergarten on January 2nd with an extremely awkward yet simultaneously amazing video that features the girls of School of Vintage debating about wienerschnitzel & hot dogs.  This blog acts as the adult version of that post, however is in no way a retraction of the previously stated amazingness.

So, without further adieu...

The Original, Unlike Any Other Rustic Drift Biergarten will be revealed during The Makers Festival at Beach View Farms! 

If you aren’t familiar with Rustic Drift, it is the creative brainchild of husband/wife team Joel & Megan Dramis.  As a boutique rental company that boasts upcycled, vintage & custom pieces for big events, Rustic Drift was the perfect fit for The Makers Festival. After discussion over snacks & craft beer, it was decided unanimously that their authentic German Biergarten tables would be showcased with a custom made tap wall during our inaugural event.

And if you absolutely can't wait until Makers Fest to get in on the Rustic Drift loving, visit their Instagram page for beautiful imagery.  Better yet, if you're getting married & need that special touch, the Dramis' have it.  Hint, hint.

The Surfboard Maker - Strange Flora Surfboards

Strange Flora Surfboards is a one-man operation headed by surfing enthusiast Chris Errico in Tuckerton, NJ.  He designs, shapes and glasses the boards out of his home-based workshop which includes both a shaping and glassing studio (constructed by hand, of course). The boards are adorned with Chris’ own Strange Flora graphics and have been made in various sizes, shapes, colors and designs throughout the years.  Being a restless sort of soul with an aggressive form of perfectionism, Chris has tirelessly experimented with different shaping methods and various epoxy and resin formulas to continuously improve upon his art.  For fifteen years he has worked as a skilled carpenter and it really shows, not only with the boards themselves, but with his handmade wooden fins as well.  To learn more about the weird and wonderful world of Strange Flora Surfboards, visit Chris’ blog at strangeflora.blogspot.com.
